Sherry Jane Smith Obituary (1951 - 2021)

SMITH, Sherry Jane - age 69 of Washington Township, Ohio passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton surrounded by family, after a long battle with breast cancer on the morning of Saturday, July 24, 2021. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on Wednesday, Sept 19, 1951 to Ernest James Woleslagle & Janelle Carole Deas. A beloved mother and wife, Sherry leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband since 1975, Philip Warren Smith; daughter Kerry Dawn Witcher of Washington Twp., OH; mother Janelle Carole Deas of Centerville, OH; sister Dawn Elizabeth Sunderland of Fairfield, OH; brother Jeffrey Ernest Woleslagle of Boca Raton, FL; grandson Nathan William Witcher of Washington Twp., OH; as well as two great grandchildren Indra and Lilith. She was preceded in death by her father Earnest James Woleslagle. She was a gentle, kind and loving person who dedicated her life to serving God, the Christian Church, and her family and friends. She attended Fairhaven Church. As a mother and homemaker, she worked with the Centerville High School Jazz Band Color Guard and Winter Guard. She spent many long hours sewing flags, washing uniforms and supporting the Guard's practices and competitions. Sherry earned an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies from Palm Beach Junior College in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She began a career with United Technologies Pratt & Whitney in Jupiter, FL, and later was employed by United Aircraft Products and C. H. Dean in Dayton, OH.
