Nancy Lee Bowlus Obituary (1925

Nancy Lee Bowlus passed away peacefully on June 23rd, her 91st birthday. Nancy is survived by her three children, Bruce, Betty and Lee, her five grand children, Natalie, Sarah, Catherine, Andy, and John, and her two great grand children, Zaelyn and Banks. Nancy was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, on June 23rd, 1925, to Leo and Freida Horton. She graduated from Pittsburg State Teachers College in 1943, and began teaching in Independence, Kansas. She also earned her masters degree in education. She married Joseph Bowlus in 1949, and they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1964, they moved to Centerville. Nancy taught math for the Centerville city schools until she retired. Nancy has been an active member of Southminster Presbyterian Church. She has also been active with the Centerville Kiwanians and a volunteer with the Centerville Police Department. One of her proudest achievements was the receipt of the 2013 Mayor's Award for Volunteer Service. A memorial service will be held at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Centerville on Monday, June 27th, at 1:00 pm preceded by a visitation starting at noon.
