Maudie Marie Smith Obituary (1939 - 2022)

Maudie Marie Smith, age 83 of Middletown, OH passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 12, 2022 at at Triple Creek Retirement Community in Cincinnati, OH. She was born on Saturday, October 28, 1939 in Hazard, KY to parents Elihue and Rose Lee (nee Wooten) Couch. Her family moved to Ohio from Kentucky when she was in her early teens. Maudie was an alterations tailor in Dayton for many years. She was preceded in death by both parents, husband Henry F. Smith, and son Nathan Couch. She was the last of her siblings: Sallie (Ivon) Whitaker, Sarah (Douglas) Stidham, Cora (Morris) Noble, Martha (Aster) Brewer, Mima (Mitchell) Morris, John (Jane) Couch, Damon Couch, Nathan (Katie) Couch, Elihue (Emma) Couch. Maudie is survived by a daughter-in-law, Joyce Couch, grandson Brian Couch, granddaughter Dawn (Mike) Davis, 6 great grandchildren, 5 great-great children, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be warmly received at 11am at Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home -1632 Wayne Ave. Dayton, OH 45410. The funeral service will begin at 1pm with nephew Orville Davis officiating.
