Obituary for Darrell Fickert

Darrell Fickert
Age 93, of Miamisburg passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018. Darrell, along with his father, founded A. E. Fickert and Son in 1951. It grew to become a regional construction icon in the area of water, fire and wind damage restoration. He was a member of Horace A. Irvin Lodge #647. He was an active member of the Motor Corps of Antioch Shrine and a founding member of the Dune Buggies. He also raced cars in the early days of Dayton Speedway. Darrell was comfortable with all and was usually the liveliest one at any gathering, telling jokes and holding court. Darrell never met a card game that he didn’t like, and he shared his love of cards with all of his grandsons. He loved to spend time with his family and friends at his summer home in Indian Lake, playing cards, swinging on the porch and having fun. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy in 2013. Darrell is survived by his children Rob (Lissa) Fickert, Keith (Shawn) Fickert, and Kim; grandchildren, Ryan (Kristin) Fickert, Andy Fickert, Sean Fickert, Cole Fickert, Michael (Misty) Logan and Kyle (Amanda) Rockhold; and great grandchildren Hudson Fickert, Emmett Fickert, Porter Fickert, Austin Glass-Flory, Carlee Logan, Skylynn Rockhold and Kai Rockhold. Family will greet friends on Wednesday, July 18th at Schlientz and Moore Funeral Home, 1632 Wayne Avenue at 1:00 pm with a memorial service at 3:00 pm. Interment will be at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton or Shrine Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati.
